Child Support
Its crazy!! They based my income on what I can potentially make back in 1997. I am in the construction industry, which has taken a flop in the last 4 years. I have been in construction for 18 years and am currently looking for new career, but it takes time and money, which I don't have. Now I am out of work, can't afford support and my child support is non modifiable. I can't afford to even take care of me, and they want to take my drivers license now. Makes no sense..Now I am labeled? Yes I am now labeled a deadbeat. I have never been out of work and have busted my ass for twenty years to provide for my family. I am a human being who has always provided and cared for my family. Is a father only worth whats in his wallet? Are there true deadbeats out there? Of coarse there are!! But many men are not. Some just hit on hard times or chose the wrong career. So what to do? Well I have determined that I cannot attract the higher paying jobs that I was used to, so I have set the pride aside and I am aggressively searching for the $10 to $13 per hour jobs. Although once achieved I will be working 160 hours per month just to pay my support. That fine the courts did speak and that is my obligation. But its gonna be tough when my kids come to see me 4 days a week when I am living in a cardboard box. Good news is that if I work two jobs, I won't have to worry about that because I won't have the time to see them anyway. Then the courts will step in and give full custody to their mother. Talk about setting a good man up for failure. And don't give me the Man-up speech, Men have been doing that for far to long and the bleeding needs to stop. Do you know that 70 to 80% of divorces are initiated by the wife? It's a pretty alarming percentage, especially based on the divorce rate. I guess divorces have become an easier avenue for most. The sad part is, if there is kids they pay the price. Well let me rephrase that, the father pays the price and the kids are stuck in the middle. It's amazing, when our ancestors divorced it hit the front page of the newspaper. Now getting a divorce, its like getting a library card, almost everyone has one.
